The book
A book for anyone over fifty who's been told their aches are just their age, and would rather not take that lying down.
Coming soon on Amazon Tell me the moment it’s out →That catch in your knee coming down the stairs. The shoulder that won't reach the top shelf any more. The back you end up planning the whole day around.
You've been told it's your age. To be careful. To expect a little less every year.
I've spent fifteen years fixing those aches for a living, and I can tell you most of them aren't wear you're stuck with. They're faults, small faults in the way a joint moves, and faults can be put right.
That's what this book is for.
What you'll learn
You'll learn to read your own body with a few simple tests, so you can see for yourself where the trouble really starts. Because where it hurts is often not where the problem is.
Then you'll trace each ache back to the fault that's actually driving it, and fix it at the root: ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder.
And once it's fixed, six straightforward moves and two short sessions a week build the strength that keeps you out of trouble for good.
No jargon. No gym required. No giving things up.

Here's one of the tests from the book. It reads your hips, and the hip is the quiet driver behind more aches than any joint in the body, handing its trouble down to the knee or up to the back and letting them do the complaining. Takes a minute, and all you need is a chair.
Sit tall on a firm chair and cross one ankle up onto the opposite knee, so your legs make the shape of a number four. Let the raised knee relax open and drop towards the floor. Then, keeping your back long and straight, lean your chest forward from the hips, slowly, until you feel the stretch build. No bouncing, no forcing. Swap sides and compare.
A hip with room to move lets that knee relax down until it sits almost level with the other, and lets you lean your chest a good way forward over it. Notice how far the knee drops, where the pull lands, and the difference between your two sides, because one will usually have more to say than the other.

If a knee stayed stuck up high, or the lean was blocked almost before it started, that hip has run out of room. And nearly everyone feels something in this one, which is rather the point. That's exactly the kind of thing this book teaches you to spot, and put right.
Who wrote it
I'm a personal trainer in Bath. I've spent fifteen years fixing the aches everyone else calls age, working one to one with people who wanted to keep doing the things they love. I wrote this book to get that help to more people than I can ever see one to one.
I'm tired of watching people give up what they love because someone told them to act their age. This book is my argument against it.
Rather have it done for you?
The book teaches you to read your own body and fix the faults yourself. If you'd rather I did the reading and wrote the programmes for you, that's what I do for a living: bespoke monthly programming, built around your body, wherever you are.
